Ntethelelo ‘Bay G’ Nkosi is through to the last-16 stage of the WBC Grand Prix after he stopped Egyptian opponent Marwan Mogamad Madboly in an all-African affair at the Global Theatre Boulevard Riyadh City in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Friday.

It was clear from the first two rounds that the 28-year-old Nkosi meant business as he overwhelmed Madboly. And it was then no wonder that Nkosi stopped the Egyptian in the third round.

As a result of the win, the former South African junior-welterweight champion improved his record to eight wins with five stoppages and two defeats. On the other hand, Madboly dropped to five wins and a loss.

Following Friday’s win, Mtubatuba-born Nkosi has advanced to the second round of the WBC Grand Prix, which takes place in June.

Meanwhile, Nkosi’s victory came just a day after Bekizizwe Maitse defeated Colombian boxer Rodolfo Puentes in a featherweight bout.
