The identity of World Boxing Organisation (WBO) junior-bantamweight champion Phumelela ‘The Truth’ Cafu’s next opponent is going to be revealed this week.

Cafu, a former South African junior-bantamweight champion, is earmarked to defend his WBO crown at a soon-to-be confirmed venue on Saturday, 24 May.

“Phumelela is defending his title on the 24th of May and we are going to announce his opponent this week. Also, the whole card of the tournament is going to be finalised this week,” Cafu’s trainer and manager Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan said.

On Cafu’s reported fight against reigning World Boxing Council (WBC) junior-bantamweight champion Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez from the United States of America (USA), Nathan said: “That’s just a rumour and I’m still trying to figure out where the rumour started. We can’t talk about a July fight while Phumelela is defending his title next month.”
