The marriage between Rulani Mokwena and Moroccan side Wydad Athletic Club has finally come to an end before he finished a season with them.

Wydad terminated Mokwena’s contract following Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Olympic Safi.

Cash-strapped Wydad would have to compensate Mokwena, whose deal with the Moroccan giants expires in 2027.

Mokwena, who coached Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and Chippa Unitee, won 14 matches, drew 14 and lost seven times in all competitions.

Meanwhile, it is believed that Mohamed Amine Benhachem will replace Mokwena and take the team to the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
