Orlando Pirates have defeated Kaizer Chiefs yet again as they beat a 10-man Amakhosi 2-1 in a Betway Premiership match at the FNB Stadium in Nasrec, Johannesburg, on Saturday afternoon.
Glody Lilepo gave Amakhosi followers the hope of winning the Soweto derby when he netted in the second minute following a Dillan Solomons pass.
However, Chiefs failed to defend their lead as the Buccaneers equalised through Evidence Makgopa, who was set up by Mohau Nkota in the 22nd minute.
And Relebohile Mofokeng ensured that the Buccaneers emerged victorious when he scored the winning goal in the 68th minute after a good move by Deon Hotto.
And after completing a league double over Chiefs, Pirates have reduced Mamelodi Sundowns’ lead to nine points with a game in hand.
Chiefs finished the match with 10 men after Bradley Cross was shown a red card following a second bookable offence towards the end of the tie.
Meanwhile, Stellenbosch FC whipped Lamontville Golden Arrows 3-0 at the Mpumalanga Stadium in Hammersdale.
Devin Titus, Lesiba Nku and Thabo Moloisane netted for the Cape Winelands side as they moved to third place on the Premiership standings.
