The use of a recreational drug has resulted in top Proteas fast bowler Kagiso Rabada being suspended from playing cricket.
The 29-year-old Rabada is back home in South Africa after playing for Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL) following an adverse finding for the use of a recreational drug.
“As has been reported, I recently returned to SA from participating in the IPL for personal reasons,” Rabada said in a statement on Saturday afternoon.
“This was due to my returning an adverse analytical finding for the use of a recreational drug. I’m deeply sorry to all those that I have let down. I will never take the privilege of playing cricket for granted. This privilege is larger than me.”
