Moroccan side Wydad Athletic Club confirmed on Tuesday evening that coach Rulani Mokwena’s contract has finally been terminated.
The 38-year-old Mokwena joined Wydad before the beginning of the 2024/25 season and was given a ‘special leave’ last month. Mokwena has now left Wydad after winning 12 times, drawing 12 matches and losing five.
“As I say goodbye, I carry unforgettable memories from Wydad, a club that will forever remain in my heart. I wish the team, staff and fans tremendous success in the new season and the Club World Cup. May you continue to make history and inspire us all,” Mokwena said.
It’s been reported that Mokwena was released after after he turned down an offer to become Wydad’s assistant coach or technical director.
