Lindokuhle Khuzwayo is in no hurry to challenge for the South African featherweight title, which is currently held by Dundee-born Lindelani Sibisi, who dethroned Zolisa Batyi at the Orient Theatre in East London on Sunday evening.

For now, Khuzwayo will concentrate on his upcoming fight, which is against former SA featherweight champion Jeff Magagane in Johannesburg on Saturday, 21 June.

“Lindo challenged Batyi, but the fight couldn’t go ahead as they wanted a lot of money. We are now concentrating on the Magagane fight and we will then challenge Sibisi after that,” Khuzwayo’s trainer Sean Smith said.

The unbeaten Khuzwayo, who has won all his six fights with four of those victories coming from knockouts, will go to the Magagane fight on the back of a second round stoppage victory over Sithembiso Maduna in Pretoria earlier this month.

On the other hand, Magagane will be fighting for the first time in more than a year. He has not fought since his loss to Portuguese boxer Pedro Manuel Gomes in Lisbon, Portugal, in December 2023.
