Lwando Mgabi put the disappointment of losing his South African junior-bantamweight title on the scales on Friday and went on to stop Sechaba Zuma in the fifth round at the Estcourt Town Hall in KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday evening.
Mgabi, who lost his crown after failing to make the required weight, dropped Zuma twice – in the second and fourth rounds. The fight referee had no choice as he waved the bout over in two minutes and 56 seconds in the fifth round.
But the Duncan Village-born Mgabi’s victory remains hollow as the SA junior-bantamweight title is now vacant.
Meanwhile, it seems as if Mxolisi Zuma can’t stop winning after he notched his 10th knockout victory in 10 bouts as he stopped Clifford Antafu from Malawi in the sixth round.
