In what has been described as a strategic move, young trainer and manager Danny de Oliveira, who owns and runs The Real Boxing Gym in Boksburg, Ekurhuleni, has entered into a business partnership with Colin Nathan’s NO DOUBT Management.
“Danny and I have been friends for many years. I have always admired and respected his boxing brain. I want to help develop him and his athletes. I believe I am the right person to guide and help him. I believe he has the ability and talent to become one of the leading coaches in South Africa,” Nathan remarked.
And Boxing 5 chief executive officer Larry Wainstein shared the same sentiments with his partner Nathan. Weinstein felt that from the first glimpse of Boxing 5 promoting both De Oliveira’s fighters, Amos Mphande and Liam Fox, the future is bright.
“Obviously, from what I have seen so far, I think Danny is young and a hard worker. It’s clear he loves boxing, and we look forward to his future as a trainer,” Wainstein said.
The excited and ambitious 28-year-old De Oliveira said that it was natural for him to enter into a partnership with NO DOUBT Management as he recently signed Mphande and Fox in a co-management agreement with Nathan.
“We have seen so many fighters recently being rushed into fights that they were not ready for and I know with Colin, I will learn the business side of managing fighters. He is undoubtedly one of the best boxing minds in South African boxing history, and Uncle Larry has always given me the time and opportunity, so it’s a win-win situation for me,” De Oliveira said.
All the fighters, who train out of The Real Boxing Gym will be co-managed by the gym and Nathan’s company.
Junior-welterweight prospect and 25-year-old Fox, who is unbeaten in one contest, faces Khumo Wabile in a four rounds bout at an Aquila Boxing Promotions tournament in August.
