Fight-starved forgotten former South African champion Prince Dlomo will dust the cobwebs and return to action when he fights against Paul Kamanga from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) at the Victory Theatre in Houghton Estate, Johannesburg, on Monday next week.
It’s going to be the first time that Dlomo laces his gloves in 19 months having last fought when he was dethroned by former South African junior-welterweight titlist Ntethelelo Nkosi in November 2023.
“Dlomo is fighting against Kamanga on Monday. He’s a late replacement and the good thing is that he’s been training all along,” Dlomo’s trainer Charrit Mukondeleli said.
Before losing to Nkosi, Dlomo had enjoyed a very good run at home as he had a seven-fight winning streak and was just one win away from making a fifth defence of the national title.
On the other hand, Kamanga will be fighting for the first time in three years. He hasn’t fought since losing to Jabulani Makhense in June 2022.
