It looks like sanity has finally prevailed as Namibian boxing promoter Nestor Tobias has promised to pay South African boxer Snamiso Ntuli following the cancellation of his fight against Paulinus Ndjolonimus in April.
Ntuli left Namibia and returned home without getting paid after his fight against Ndjolonimus collapsed at the weigh-in as the Namibian pulled out because he was reportedly ill.
“He refused to sign and take 10 percent of the purse as per the rules. If he now wants the 10 percent, then he must put that in writing and I will pay him,” Tobias from Nestor Sushine Tobias Boxing and Fitness Academy said.
A disappointed Ntuli remarked: “It looks like Nestor doesn’t want to pay me. I really don’t know what I have done wrong to deserve this. Nobody cares about my plight. No one is helping me get my money from Namibia. Colin Nathan is the only person who cared about me. But the Namibian Boxing Board has frustrated him.”
Ntuli added: “What happened to me in Namibia is not right, it’s an abuse. The sad thing is that it was done by a former boxer who should know better. My tears won’t be shed in vain. I hope that one day he will feel the pain that I’m feeling right now.”
Meanwhile, Ntuli has revealed that he has submitted a challenge form with an aim of challenging current South African super-middleweight champion Asemahle Wellem.
It’s going to be the second time that Ntuli challenges for an SA title having been stopped in the eighth round by former national middleweight champion John Bopape at the Dlamini Hall, Soweto, in July 2022.
And Wellem is yet to defend the SA title since winning it via a fourth round knockout of former champion Cowin Ray in October 2022. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
