Betway Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns had a good start at the FIFA Club World Cup, defeating Ulsan Hyundai from the Korea Republic 1-0 in a Group F match played at the Inter & Co Stadium in Orlando, Florida, United States of America (USA), early on Wednesday morning, South African time.
Iqraam Rayners thought he had given the Brazilians the lead in the 29th minute, only for VAR to rule otherwise. But there was no denying Rayners when he finally scored for the Tshwane giants from a Lucas Ribeiro Costa assist in the 36th minute.
Rayners, a former Stellenbosch FC and SuperSport United forward, scored again in the 39th minute. Once again, VAR ruled that he was offside when he netted.
Meanwhile, the K League 1 side are still searching for their first win in the Club World Cup having lost to Monterrey, Hiroshima, Tigres and Al-Duhail in the past.
