Orlando Pirates announced the appointment of Moroccan-born Abdeslam Ouaddou as their new head coach on Monday morning.
The 46-year-old Ouaddou, who is expected to return to South Africa before the end of the week, was with Marumo Gallants before leaving them abruptly last month.
“His deep understanding of the game, coupled with a strong leadership profile, positions him well to lead the Buccaneers into a new era,” a Pirates statement said.
Ouaddou will be assisted by Mandla Ncikazi and Rayaan Jacobs while Tyron Damons is the goalkeeper coach with Moroccan Helmi Gueldich being the strength and conditioning coach.
Meanwhile, the Buccaneers begin pre-season training this coming Friday before heading to Spain where they will play friendly matches against Bolton Wanderers (England), Pafos (Cyprus), Las Palmas (Spain) and Granada (Spain).
