With a World Boxing Council (WBC) strawweight elimination bout less than four months away, Siyakholwa Kuse now enjoys being rated by three of the world’s top four bodies.

Initially rated only by the WBC, Kuse is now reaping the fruits of winning his last fight, which was against Filipino boxer Samuel Salva, as the victory has resulted in him barging into the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and World Boxing Organisation (WBO) ratings.

Born in Mdantsane in the Eastern Cape, the WBC Silver strawweight champion is now rated second by the WBC, 15th by the IBF and is ninth in the WBO ratings.

“I’m very happy to be rated by three of the top four world boxing bodies. This is something that I had been looking forward to. I wish to be rated by all four top bodies so that I can be in a position to challenge for world titles,” Kuse remarked.

Kuse is currently busy preparing to face off against highly-rated Joey Canoy from the Philippines in a WBC elimination bout on Saturday, 4 October. This is one of the most important fights for Kuse as the winner is going to get a crack at the WBC strawweight title currently held by Filipino boxer Melvin Jerusalem.

It’s definitely not going to be an easy fight as Canoy from General Santos City is no pushover. That he’s rated by the WBC (3), IBF (12), WBO (6) and is 15th in the World Boxing Association (WBA) proves just that. – Monwabisi Jimlongo

  1. It’s a well deserved recognition and he must grab the opportunity with both hands. That simply means, he has to work even harder than he did in the past. Go for gold and we all behind you champ.
