After waiting for two months to get his money following the cancellation of his World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa super-middleweight title fight against Namibian boxer Paulinus Ndjolonimus in April, Snamiso Ntuli can now afford to smile as he’s been paid 10 percent of the purse he signed for.

Ladysmith-born Ntuli received his money from Namibian boxing promoter Nestor Tobias of Nestor Sunshine Tobias Boxing and Fitness Academy on Monday.

Ntuli left Namibia and returned home without getting paid after his fight against Ndjolonimus collapsed at the weigh-in as the Namibian pulled out because he was reportedly ill.

“I received the money, it’s better than nothing. I thank everyone who played a role in making sure that I finally got the money,” Ntuli said.

With Tobias having paid Ntuli, the current KwaZulu-Natal super-middleweight champion might return to fight in Namibia in two months’ time.

“They have indicated that they want me to go fight in Namibia in September. I will only be happy once I have signed the contract,” the former South African middleweight title contender said. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
