Filipino boxer RV Deniega is already in South Africa ahead of Saturday’s fight against Charlton Malajika at the Emperor’s Palace in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni.

Deniega landed in South Africa together with his trainer Eduardo Edurot Junior, who is a former Philippines bantamweight champion. The 25-year-old Deniega and Malajika are due to square up against each other in an International Boxing Organisation (IBO) Youth bantamweight title contest.

The two boxers are scheduled to meet for the first time on Tuesday morning. They are going to come face-to-face at a pre-fight medical and press conference at the Brian Mitchell Boxing Academy in Edenvale starting at 11h30.

Deniega from General Santos City has lost once after winning 11 times with seven of those wins being stoppages. Malajika, on the other hand, has registered seven victories with three knockouts and a defeat.
