Two Eastern Cape boxers, a champion and a challenger, will square up against each other in a South African title contest outside their province early next month.
South African minimumweight champion Mthokozisi Ngxaka will put his title on the line when he trades leather with Thinumzi Gqola at the Portuguese Hall in Johannesburg on Sunday, 3 August.
Ngxaka from Mthatha will be making the first defence of the national crown he captured after he stopped Thami Luthuli in the fourth round during their fight held at the Orient Theatre in East London just over three months ago.
On the other hand, Gqola qualified to challenge for the SA title after he registered a first round stoppage win over his Duncan Village, East London, homeboy Malakhi Sobolo in March.
Meanwhile, the vacant Gauteng junior-lightweight title is going to be contested by Carl van Blerk and Siphamandla Manqatha.
