After arriving in Dallas in the United States of America (USA) on Monday, a fearless Phumelela ‘The Truth’ Cafu had the first face off with his adversary Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez from America at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Texas on Tuesday (early on Wednesday morning, South African time).
Cafu and Rodriguez are scheduled to test each other’s fistic skills at the Ford Centre in Star Frisco, Dallas, Texas, this coming Saturday (Sunday, South African time). At stake will be Cafu’s World Boxing Organisation (WBO) junior-bantamweight title as well as Rodriguez’s World Boxing Council (WBC) and Ring Magazine belts.
Duncan Village-born Cafu and his trainer Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan have been training in Las Vegas since arriving in the US last week.
“We’re doing good. Got to Dallas on Monday,” Nathan, who is battle-scarred trainer, said.
This is the most important fight for Cafu, a former South African junior-bantamweight title holder, as a win over Rodriguez will put him among the best and respected boxers in the world.
