Less than three weeks after he registered a 10th round stoppage win over Dean Promnick at the Emperors Palace in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, DonJuan van Heerden has now secured yet another fight.
The reigning African Boxing Union (ABU) middleweight champion is pencilled to collide with All ‘The Machine Gun’ Rivera from the Philippines at the Kempton Park venue on Saturday, 4 October.
Rivera is a former Philippines Boxing Federation (PBF) lightweight as well as Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation junior-welterweight titlist. He has also held the Philippines Games and Amusements Board welterweight title.
Van Heerden, a 2023 Male Prospect of the Year award winner, has a professional record of 10 wins with seven knockouts and three losses. The 32-year-old Rivera from Santa Rosa City in Laguna in the Philippines, meanwhile, has notched 23 victories with 18 knockouts and five losses.
This fight between Van Heerden and Rivera is going to be part of the Golden Gloves tournament where Mdantsane boxer Siyakholwa Kuse will face off against Filipino opponent Joey Canoy in a World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver minimumweight title contest, which will also serve as an elimination bout.
