In an act of total defiance, Asemahle ‘The Predator’ Wellem has shown Boxing South Africa (BSA) the middle finger once again as he continues to fight in Tanzania without being cleared by the fistic regulator.
A defiant Wellem is scheduled to face off against Nigerian boxer Idowa Mustorpha Rasheed at the Viwanja vya Posta in Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania, this coming Saturday.
“Welllem is acting in defiance and both our counterparts from Tanzania and the promotional company have been duly informed,” BSA chief executive officer Tsholofelo Lejaka remarked.
The reigning South African super-middleweight champion from Chintsa in the Eastern Cape will be fighting in Tanzania for the third successive time without having been cleared by BSA.
He started defying BSA when he went to fight in the East African country against Frank Shagembe in December last year despite being on an automatic 90-day suspension following his eighth round stoppage loss to Australian boxer Conor Wallace in Australia.
Still not cleared by BSA, Wellem, who’s revered in Tanzania, left South Africa to fight against Jacob Maganga two months ago. Wellem won for the first time in more than a year when he defeated the Tanzanian boxer. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
