After being on the receiving end of quite a number of telling blows from his opponent Patrick Mukala, Angolan boxer Cristiano Ndombassy decided that he had had enough and failed to come out from his corner at the beginning of the sixth round.
And because of Ndombassy’s failure to answer the bell, Mukala won the vacant International Boxing Organisation (IBO) All-Africa middleweight title fight by a stoppage.
It was clear from the first bell that Mukala from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) was out to finish the fight early as he toyed with Ndombassy, hitting him at will. It was then not surprising that Ndombassy didn’t come out for the sixth round.
Meanwhile, Kaine Fourie was too much for Oumpie Sibeko as he defeated him by a second round technical knockout.
In a fight, which pitted two former South African champions from the Eastern Cape, Duncan Village’s Ayabonga Sonjica stopped Komani-born Sabelo Ngebiyane in the fourth round.
