Even though his next fight is kept under wraps, we can reveal that former South African featherweight champion Azinga ‘Golden Boy’ Fuzile is sweating buckets in Johannesburg.

Duncan Village-born Fuzile flew out of East London to join his trainer Zolani ‘Last Born’ Tete in Johannesburg on Saturday. Tete has been training Bekizizwe Maitse ahead of his WBC Grand Prix quarter-finals clash against American boxer Iman Lee in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, next week.

When asked for comment about his boxer’s next fight, Fuzile’s manager Mlandeli Tengimfene didn’t reveal much except to say: “Yes, Azinga is training with Zolani in Johannesburg.”

Ink Sport has it on good authority that the former International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-lightweight title contender is going to fight in Mexico in two months’ time even though the name of his opponent is yet to be made known.

Fuzile, who has a professional record of 18 wins with 12 knockouts and three losses, lost to Kazakh Sultan Zaurbek in a vacant IBF Intercontinental junior-lightweight title contest in Kazakhstan four months ago. That was the 29-year-old Fuzile’s first loss in his last four fights. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
