Ricardo ‘Magic Man’ Malajika turned on the magic yet again as he continued making stopping boxers a habit as he stopped Jayson Mama from the Philippines at the Emperors Palace in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, on Saturday evening.
After a slow start, Mama kissed the canvas twice in the third round. A calculating Malajika dropped the Filipino yet again in the fourth and fifth rounds ending the fight by a stoppage.
This was the third straight stoppage win for Malajika, who stopped Jackson Chauke in January this year and Yanga Sigqibo last August.
Meanwhile, in a fight which kept people continually shouting on top of their voices as both Simamkele Tutsheni and Caleigh Swart exchanged blows, there was only one winner.
Tutsheni became the new IBO All-Africa female junior-featherweight champion after all three charges nodded in agreement.
Tutsheni has now won all her eight fights with three of those victories coming from stoppages. Swart, on the other hand, dropped to five wins and a loss.
