Kaizer Chiefs completed the signing of midfielder Asanele Velebayi from Cape Town Spurs on Tuesday afternoon.
The 22-year-old Velebayi, who was born in Phillipi, Cape Town, has signed a long-term contract with the Naturena-based club.
“We are happy to finally have Asanele with us. He is a great addition and we believe he will add significant value because he is a perfect fit for our game model and the culture we have here at the club,” Amakhosi sporting director Kaizer Motaung Junior said.
The signing of Velebayi followed after his former club Spurs, who were relegated from the Motsepe Foundation Championship (MFC) to the ABC Motsepe League at the end of last season, lost their case at the Premier Soccer League (PSL) dispute resolution chamber as they wanted to cash in on his move to Amakhosi.
