As if lack of fights is not enough, now current South African female junior-heavyweight champion Razell Mohamed has had the misfortune of breaking her leg.
The Gqeberha-born Ankervas Primary school educator in Kariega, Nelson Mandela Bay Metro, ha revealed that she broke her leg in three places after she fell on Tuesday.
“I was walking on the stairs, which I can say have potholes, I twisted my ankle and then fell on my back. This is quite bad because now my ankle bones are broken inside and outside. The leg is broken as well,” Mohamed revealed.
“It actually happened at school on Tuesday morning. Strangely, I had just been to the gym before coming to school.”
Mohamed has been fight starved for two years and has not fought on South African soil since her first successful national title defence against Rolen Mulebo at the Nangoza Jebe Hall in New Brighton, Gqeberha, in August 2022.
And her last fight was a stoppage loss to New Zealander Lani Daniels in an International Boxing Federation (IBF) female heavyweight title contest in August 2023.
In her six professional fights, Mohamed has faced four opponents – having had three successive bouts against Lilian Molala. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
