One of the most decorated amateur stars, Lubabalo Lusizi, is scheduled to make his long-awaited professional debut in Gqeberha on Saturday.
Lusizi, who turned 23 in June, will make his debut in the paid ranks with a fight against Ibanathi Magwa from Kariega in a junior-flyweight bout over four rounds at the George Botha Community Centre in KwaNoxolo, Gqeberha.
According to Caiphus Ntante from Caiph Camp in Gqeberha, Lusizi is destined to become a star professional boxer, especially if his amateur pedigree is anything to go by.
A winner of four national gold medals in 2016, 2019, 2021 and 2022, Lusizi is trained by Thando Twenani. Lusizi from Zwide in Gqeberha also won a gold medal at the Africa Zone 4 championships in 2022.
