One of the oldest active boxers in South Africa is going to return to the ring for his first fight since losing a world title contest in March this year.
After losing his International Boxing Organisation (IBO) flyweight title to Ricardo Malajika at the Emperors Palace in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, Tembisa-based Jackson ‘M3’ Chauke is now set to face off against Nkosingiphile Sibisi next month.
Chauke and Sibisi are going to fight in a World Boxing Council (WBC) International flyweight contest at the Estcourt Town Hall in KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday, 11 October.
Confirming the fight, Chauke’s trainer Damien Durandt said: “Chauke is fighting on the 11th of October in Estcourt against Sibisi. It’s a WBC International flyweight title fight.”
The 40-year-old Chauke has lost twice in his last four fights while his professional record stands at 24 victories with 15 knockouts, three losses and two draws.
Meanwhile, Sibisi is the reigning SA flyweight champion, who has already made two successful defences against Zolile Miya and Theo Nxayiphi.
Sibisi from Glencoe in KwaZulu-Natal is yet to lose as he has chalked up 10 wins with two stoppages. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
