Ayabulela Xatyana wants to take his boxing career a notch forward as he is challenging Sanele Magwaza for the Eastern Cape junior-featherweight title.

Now Xatyana from the International Boxing Academy in Ncera, Kiddsbeach, outside East London will face off against Magwaza in Gqeberha on Sunday, 25 October.

“Xatyana’s challenge for the Eastern Cape title has been approved by Boxing South Africa. The fight is going to take place in Gqeberha on the 25th of October,” Xatyana’s trainer Vuyani Konzani confirmed.

Xatyana, who defeated Carlos Mahlathi at the Guild Theatre in East London earlier last month, is unbeaten in three fights, having stopped two of his victims.

“Xatyana is promoted by Mzi Booi and we wanted him to fight in the Kay B Promotions tournament in November. But after engagement with Team Magwaza, they opted to use their promoter in Gqeberha,” Konzani said.

Meanwhile, Magwaza, a former World Boxing Federation (WBF) Africa bantamweight champion, won the Eastern Cape title after he stopped Mbulelo Gwabeni in the second round during their fight in Kariega, Nelson Mandela Bay region, in February this year.

Magwaza is more experienced compared to Xatyana as he has fought 11 times, winning seven fights with two of those victories coming from stoppages and four defeats.
