Marumo Gallants held Kaizer Chiefs to a 1-1 draw in a Betway Premiership match at the FNB Stadium in Nasrec, Johannesburg, on Wednesday evening.
New Amakhosi recruit, Khanyisa Mayo, broke the deadlock when he scored on debut in the 39th minute. Mayo scored despite being sandwiched by Gallants goalkeeper Washington Arubi and defender Mpho Chabatsane.
Amakhosi were awarded a penalty by match referee Luxolo Badi and Gaston Sirino failed to beat Arubi, who saved the ball after Marvin Sikhosana had handled the ball inside the box on the stroke of half-time.
Jaisen Clifford cut in before unleashing a stunning shot past Amakhosi goalkeeper Brandon Petersen to make it 1-1 in the 75th minute.
