Simangele ‘Smash’ Hadebe bounced back from losing her previous fight as she defeated Nigerian opponent Kehinde Olamiposi Solomon at the Kagiso Memorial and Recreation Centre in Krugersdorp on Friday evening.

As a result of her resounding win, Hadebe won the vacant World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa female flyweight title.

All three judges gave the fight to her with both Sipho Ndongeni and David van Niewenhuizen having her winning by 80-72 on their scorecards while Tony Nyangiwe’s scorecard read 79-73.

Hadebe, who is the reigning South African female flyweight champion, dominated the proceedings from the first until the last gong. It was then no wonder that all three judges nodded in agreement saying that he had won the fight.

This was sweet victory for Hadebe after she lost to Mexican boxer Gabriela Sanchez Saavedra away in Mexico five months ago.

Meanwhile, Asanda Simelane won the vacant WBO Africa female junior-flyweight title following a split decision victory over Nozwelethu Mathonsi.
