A date has been set for Mpumelelo Tshabalala’s next fight, which is going to be against Mexican boxer Sergio Alfonso Mendoza Cordova in an International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight elimination bout. 

Tshabalala will travel to Mexico for the fight against Cordova either in Hermosillo or Tampico on Saturday, 22 November (Sunday, 23 November, South African time). 

“The fight is going to be held on the 22nd of November in Mexico,” Tshabalala’s manager Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan from NO DOUBT Management confirmed.

A winner between Tshabalala and Cordova will get an opportunity to challenge reigning IBF champion Thanongsak Simsri from Thailand.

Tshabalala, who has 11 wins with five knockouts and a loss, is rated number four by the IBF and is sixth in the World Boxing Council (WBC) ratings. 

On the other hand, Cordova has won all his 26 fights with 22 of his victims failing to reach the distance. Cordova is rated number three by the IBF and is sixth in the World Boxing Association (WBA) ratings. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
