Even though their fight is not official yet, South African junior-bantamweight champion Moyisi Booi has accepted Lwando Mgabi’s challenge and he can’t wait to meet him inside the ring.
Booi, who won the title after he stopped Ntethelelo Magcaba in the eighth round at East London’s Orient Theatre just over a week ago, has said that Mgabi has nothing to offer and will fail against him.
“We know that Lwando is just talkative while I don’t talk much. I will show him what I can do inside the ring. One thing for sure is that this title is going nowhere. This title is mine and no one will stand in my way,” Booi said.
Mdantsane-born Booi added: “Lwando must give up on reclaiming the title. He messed up and wasted his time when he lost the title because of ill-discipline. There’s a strong possibility that I might even stop him during our fight.”
Meanwhile, Mgabi lost the SA title on the scales after he failed to make the required weight before he stopped Sechaba Zuma in the fifth round in Estcourt four months ago.
Mgabi is unbeaten having won all his nine fights with four of those wins coming from stoppages. On the other hand, Booi has seven victories with five knockouts and a loss. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
