A legal battle on who really manages world title hopeful Landile ‘Man Down’ Ngxeke has started with Xaba Promotions boss Ayanda Matiti and his sister Sibongile Matiti from Zbashy Promotions and Events asking the board of Boxing South Africa (BSA) to look into how the boxer joined NO DOUBT Management’s Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan.

Ngxeke, who is scheduled to fight against Mexican boxer Jose Salas Reyes in a vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) bantamweight title contest, joined Nathan last week.

In a letter addressed to BSA board chairperson Ayanda Zamantungwa Khumalo on Wednesday, the Matiti siblings, through their lawyer Akhona Mafani from Mafani and Company Incorporated, are calling for the annulment of the boxer-manager contract signed between Nathan and Ngxeke.

And in the process of fighting for Ngxeke to return to them, the Matitis have also accused BSA provincial manager in the Eastern Cape Siya Vabaza-Booi of sabotaging them claiming that she failed to provide them with blank contract forms to fill with the South African bantamweight champion.

In the letter seen by Ink Sport, the Matitis are arguing against Nathan being Ngxeke’s manager as per their contract signed last week.

Even though they are fighting against Nathan managing Ngxeke, the Matitis revealed that the reigning South African bantamweight champion’s contract with Zbashy Promotions entered into in June 2022 expired in June 2024. And since then no other contract was ever signed even though Ngxeke kept on fighting in Xaba Promotions tournaments.

And the Matiti siblings have accused NO DOUBT Management of using them as its development agency. They further said that NO DOUBT Management is not interested in developing boxers.

Mafani’s letter added that it is the Matitis’ view that Vabaza-Booi had a motive to sabotage them. And they say that her motive only became clear when Ngxeke joined hands with Nathan.

“Ms Booi has acted in a wrongful and/or unlawful manner that has caused harm to our client(s),” the letter said.

The letter further said: “If the board is with our client(s) on this, then it follows the board cannot and should not approve the contract having been preceded and made possible by unlawful conduct (illegality).”

The Matitis have also asked the BSA board to inform the IBF about their objection on Nathan’s contract with Ngxeke until the process has been concluded. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
