Coach Hugo Broos has delivered on his promise to take Bafana Bafana to the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals after the South African senior national team whipped Rwanda 3-0 at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Tuesday evening.
Bafana made their intentions clear as early as the sixth minute when Thalente Mbatha gave them the lead with a strike from outside the box following an Oswin Appollis assist.
Bafana pressed forward and Appollis netted their second goal following an assist from Evidence Makgopa in the 25th minute. Appollis turned provider once again as he set up Makgopa for Bafana’s third goal in the 71st minute to take the South Africans to their first World Cup tournament since 2010.
