Mamelodi Sundowns were too good for Remo Stars as they whipped them 5-1 in a CAF Champions League second preliminary round first leg encounter at the M. K. O. Abiola International Stadium in Abeokouta, Nigeria, on Sunday evening.

The Brazilians’ goalscoring spree started when Tashreeq Matthews put them ahead in the 12th minute. And Peter Shalulile netted their second goal three minutes before the half-time break.

Sundowns were not done yet as Miguel Reisinho made it 3-0 just after the hour mark. Second half substitute Arthur Sales from Brazil scored Sundowns’ fourth goal in the 74th minute.

Two minutes later, 23-year-old Samson Olasupo netted Stars’ goal when he beat Sundowns goalkeeper Ronwen Williams.

And Katlego Ntsabeleng stretched it further for the Tshwane giants as he scored their fifth goal of the match six minutes before full-time.

Meanwhile, St Eloi Lupopo from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) humiliated  Orlando Pirates 3-0 through goals came from Ramos Kashala Wanet, Dramane Kambou and Jean Benoît Tukumbane in another CAF Champions League second preliminary round first leg in Lubumbashi earlier on Sunday.
