Kaine Fourie suffered his second stoppage loss in the same year as he was stopped by Argentine opponent Claudio Daneff at The Galleria in Sandton, Johannesburg, on Saturday evening.
Daneff stopped Fourie in the second round to win the International Boxing Organisation (IBO) Intercontinental lightweight title.
Earlier this year, Fourie suffered a first round stoppage loss to Zambian boxer Simon Ngoma at the same Sandton venue. He, however, bounced back with two successive wins over Oumpie Sibeko and Sifiso Hlongwane in August and June respectively.
Meanwhile, unbeaten KwaZulu-Natal boxer Lindokuhle Khuzwayo is the new IBO Africa featherweight champion following a second round knockout victory over Nigerian opponent Rilwan Lawal bout.
Following the win, Khuzwayo improved his record to seven victories with five stoppages and a draw. On the other hand, Lawal dropped to 21 wins with 13 knockouts and four losses.
Khuzwayo’s stablemate Tiisetso Matikinca continued with his winning ways as he registered a second round win over Michael Daries in an all-Eastern Cape affair.
