Even though Lindokuhle Khuzwayo is not sure as to what his next step will be, he has made it clear that a showdown with South African featherweight champion Lindelani Sibisi seems unavoidable.
Khuzwayo is fresh from a second round victory over Nigerian boxer Rilwan Lawal at The Galleria in Sandton, Johannesburg, on Saturday evening. As a result of the win, Khuzwayo became the new International Boxing Organisation (IBO) All-Africa featherweight champion.
“I’m very happy to have won the fight even though I’m not sure what my next move is gonna be. I’m even prepared to challenge Sibisi for his title,” the 22-year-old Khuzwayo, who is rated number three in South Africa, said.
Following Saturday’s win, Maphumulo-born Khuzwayo improved his record to seven wins, five stoppages and a draw, which was against former South African featherweight champion Jeff Magagane in June.
On the other hand, the 33-year-old Lawal from Lagos dropped to 21 wins with 13 knockouts and four defeats. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
