Bernice ‘The Badger’ Ferreira is feeling emboldened after her opponent Nozipho Bell struggled to make the required weight before their South African female junior-lightweight title scheduled for Saturday.

Ferreira, who is yet to lose or draw in eight fights, challenges Bell from the Eastern Cape at the Silver Lakes Farm Hotel in Pretoria on Saturday.

“I’m feeling good, strong and ready. I have been training for this fight for a while. I’m prepared for a full on battle for 10 rounds. But looking at the circumstances, I doubt the fight will go the full distance,” Ferreira said.

Already, Walmer-born Bell fought twice this year – winning against Abongile Lubambo in March and lost to Russian boxer Albina Moldazhanova in August.

Ferreira, meanwhile, will be fighting against an Eastern Cape boxer for the second time this year. Ferreira defeated Klerksdorp-born former SA and World Boxing Federation (WBF) bantamweight champion Bukiwe Nonina from Dutywa in March. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
