Ndabezitha Phiri continued with his winning streak against South African boxers as he defeated veteran boxer Jackson Chauke on points at the Fourways Farmers Market in Johannesburg on Sunday evening.

All three judges nodded in agreement saying that Phiri from Zimbabwe had done enough to win by 117-110, 115-112 and 114-113 on their scorecards.

Following his win over Chauke, Phiri, who is trained by Manny Fernandes, became the new World Boxing Council (WBC) Africa flyweight champion. Chauke was the seventh South African boxers to lose to Phiri.

Meanwhile, this was the second successive loss for Chauke as he lost his International Boxing Organisation (IBO) flyweight title after he was stopped by Ricardo Malajika in the second round in March this year.
