Former national champion Lwando Mgabi is back home in East London just less than a month before he meets Moyisi Booi in a South African junior-bantamweight title fight.
Mgabi, who lost the SA junior-bantamweight title on the scales early in June, is vying for the same crown as he challenges Booi at the Orient Theatre in East London on Friday, 19 December. The Cape Town-based Mgabi landed at the King Phalo Airport in East London on Thursday.
“Lwando has descended in East London to join his teammates in a camp for his upcoming fight,” Mgabi’s manager Mlandeli Tengimfene said.
Duncan Village-born Mgabi lost the SA title after he failed to make the required weight before he stopped Sechaba Zuma in the fifth round during their clash at the Estcourt Town Hall in KwaZulu-Natal.
Meanwhile, Booi became the SA champion after he stopped Ntethelelo Magcaba in the eighth round at the Orient Theatre two months ago. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
