He might have fought and defeated an unheralded boxer in Tanzanian foe Sunday Kiwale recently, however the win has helped former world champion Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga bounce back into the International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight ratings.

Nontshinga was dropped from the IBF ratings after being inactive for a year. However, he’s back in the reckoning as he’s now rated eighth in the latest ratings.

The 27-year-old two-time IBF junior-flyweight champion stopped Kiwale in the second round at the Box Camp Booysens in Johannesburg last month. This was the first time Nontshinga fought since suffering a ninth round stoppage loss to Japanese boxer Masamichi Yabuki in an IBF junior-flyweight title fight in October last year.

And after he stopped Kiwale, Nontshinga improved his record to 14 victories with 11 knockouts and two losses while the Tanzanian dropped to 20 wins, 13 stoppages, 17 defeats and five draws.

Meanwhile, South African and IBF Intercontinental junior-flyweight titlist Siseko Teyisi is still rated in the same position – 10th – in the ratings.
