Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos is hopping mad after departing Orlando Pirates defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi arrived late at the national team camp.

The Chicago Fire-bound Mbokazi arrived late at the Bafana camp after he missed his flight from Durban and that rubbed Broos the wrong way.

“I am not pleased with what he did. He let us know he missed his flight from Durban. It was the coach of Pirates who informed me. He was very angry that he missed his flight. I have already spoken about players with an unprofessional attitude. Then Pirates sent me a nonsense message. I will not tell you what it was, but it was nonsense. It is worse that the club protects the player,” Broos said.

The Belgian continued: “This is very bad. You are a 20-year-old guy and you have been called up to play in the AFCON and in the World Cup next year. I will have a chat with him. He is a black guy, but when he comes out of my room, he will be white.

“I know why, I know why. Suddenly, Mboki is a star – he thinks he is a star. This is the attitude of a star, ‘I will decide when I come’. I will explain it to him. I’m very angry, very angry about his attitude.”

Bafana are in camp preparing for an international friendly match before they leave for the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco.
