While he’s still searching for a promotional home and a new trainer, Siseko ‘Panda’ Teyisi has moved up in the International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight ratings.
Teyisi went into the festive season rated 10th by the IBF and has now moved up three places to seventh position, one place below his compatriot and homeboy Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga, who is a two-time world champion.
Mdantsane-born Teyisi, who recently cut ties with Xaba Promotions following a contractual dispute, is the reigning IBF Intercontinental junior-flyweight titlist. He won the title after he defeated Filipino boxer Elmar Zamora on points in September last year.
And in his last fight, Teyisi stopped Athenkosi Thongwana in the 12th round during their South African junior-flyweight title contest at the Orient Theatre in East London in December.
Developed by fitness fanatic Zolile ‘Gqo’ Mahambi in Mdantsane, Teyisi is still unbeaten, having won all his nine fights with seven of those victories coming from knockouts.
