East London promoter Mzi Booi is hoping that his promotional outfit, Kay B Promotions, will reach more heights this year in as far as staging boxing tournaments is concerned.
However, staging more tournaments will aoso hinge on Booi securing sponsorships for his shows. Kay B Promotions staged three tournaments last year and even moved away from the Orient Theatre, the traditional home of East London boxing, taking shows to a new venue, Guild Theatre in the city.
Already, Booi is finalising a bill for his next tournament, which is scheduled to take place in East London on Saturday, 4 April.
“I’m sure about three tournaments which we will have this year. We will have more should we secure a sponsorship,” Booi said.
Kay B Promotions, which had its maiden show in March 2024, is home to unbeaten boxers Lonwabo Sizani and Ayabulela Xatyana as well South African featherweight title hopeful Bongani Fule. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
