The Teranga Lions of Senegal are continental kings after they won the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, Morocco, on Sunday evening.

Senegal beat Morocco’s Atlas Lions 1-0 through Pape Gueye’s 94th minute goal during a volatile match, which also saw the Senegalese players leaving the field while protesting against Congolese referee Jean-Jacques Ngambo Ndala’s decision to award the Moroccans a penalty.

However, sanity prevailed after Senegalese star player Sadio Mané begged his compatriots to return to the field. And Senegal goalkeeper Eduardo Mendy saved the penalty, which was taken by Brahim Diaz.

Meanwhile, this was the second time the Teranga Lions won the AFCON trophy in the last three editions of the tournament. The Teranga Lions also won the 2021 edition of the tournament.
