After registering more than 350 wins in the amateur ranks, star boxer Sibabalwe ‘Lord of the Rings’ Ngoxoza is now ready to ditch his vest and starts a professional journey in the 2026/27 financial year.
This was announced by Thembelani ‘Shakes’ Hlombe ahead of the boxer’s transition from amateur to the paid ranks. The 20-year-old Ngoxoza is a two-time South African and Eastern Cape amateur champion, who returned home from the Africa Games in Angola with a bronze medal last year.
“I’m going to unleash Ngoxoza. He is going to turn professional this year,” Hlombe, who manages Ngoxoza’s affairs, said.
With a record of 357 wins, seven losses and a draw, Hlombe hopes Mdantsane-born Ngoxoza, who is trained by Siyabulela Tete, will cause havoc in the junior-bantamweight division once he starts fighting professionally. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
