Mzi Booi’s plans to push rising star and unbeaten boxer Lonwabo Sizani’s career forward will see the youngster fighting for the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) Youth Silver lightweight title in less than three months’ time.
Kay B Promotions boss Booi has announced that Sizani will fight against Tanzanian boxer Abdul Ahmed Mangula and the eight rounds bout is set for Saturday, 4 April, in East London.
Trained by former South African junior-bantamweight champion Mzi Dintsi and Bobbin Sityana, Sizani is rated ninth in the latest Boxing South Africa (BSA) junior-lightweight ratings.
Sizani, who made his professional debut with a win over Loyiso Kewuti in October 2024, has proved to be a knockout specialist, having won all his five fights with stoppages.
Mangula, meanwhile, fought four times last year, winning three of them by a technical knockout. Overall, Mangula has four wins and a draw. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
