Chris Thompson will once again trade leather with Shaun Potgieter as they are scheduled to face off in a rematch at the Carnival City in Brakpan on Saturday, 18 April.
This South African heavyweight bout between the reigning champion Thompson and Potgieter is going to be promoted by Larry Wainstein’s Boxing5 Promotions.
“For me, it’s an honour to promote the rematch. Both are such good guys and if the first fight is anything to go by, then we are in for a treat. It’s really hard to pick a winner as I thought after six rounds in their first fight, it was really hard to separate them,” Wainstein, who is the Boxing5 chief executive officer, said.
Thompson will be fighting for the first time since he defeated Russian boxer Georgi Yunovidov in Manila, Philippines, last October. On the other hand, Potgieter hasn’t fought since losing to Thompson.
