Sudanese side Al Hilal defeated Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 in their CAF Champions League Group C match at Stade Amahoro in Rwanda on Friday evening.
The Blue Wave led 1-0 at the break following Mohamed Abdelrhman Yousif Yagub’s converted penalty on the stroke of half-time. Jean Claude Girrumugisha made it 2-0 two minutes into the second half after receiving a pass from Walieldin Khedr Safour Daiyeen.
Brazilian Arthur de Oliveira Sales brought hope to the Tshwane giants when he cut the deficit in half in the 61st minute after a Peter Shalulile pass. And as a result of the loss, Sundowns have since dropped to second on the Group C standings with two games to go.
