After flying out of South Africa on Monday, Mthatha boxer Siphamandla ‘Toytoy’ Baleni and his trainer Khangelani Jack arrived in the Philippines on Tuesday ahead of Saturday’s 10 rounds bout against world rated Regie ‘The Filipino Phenom’ Suganob.
The fight between the former South African minimumweight and junior-flyweight champion and Suganob is going to be held at the Bohol Cultural Centre in Tagbilaran City.
Baleni and Jack were welcomed in the Philippines by Ronel Robles, a matchmaker from PMI Bohol Boxing Promotions, and PMI sports co-ordinator Edsel Burlas.
Suganob is the same boxer who lost to Sivenathi Nontshinga in an International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight title fight at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in KuGompo City early in July 2023. The Filipino is rated sixth by the World Boxing Council (WBC), fifth in the IBF ratings and is sitting in third position in the World Boxing Organisation (WBO).
